Community/Municipal Pools

Allegheny County Pools

Located in North Park, Boyce Park, South Park, and Settler's Cabin Park, these pools are open seasonally from June 4 to Labor Day (weather and conditions permitting).  See website for locations, hours, admission, and more information.

Pittsburgh Citiparks Pools

Citiparks has 18 outdoor public pools open during the summer (mid-June through Labor Day), and one indoor pool (Oliver Bath House) open during the off season, Labor Day through mid-June.  See website for locations, hours, admission, and more information.

  • Oliver Bath House has designated open swim times (check website for schedule) with swim lanes, but lap length is only approximately 20 yards.  Lap swimmers should avoid family swim times. (credit: Joan Bogdanski and Kyle Hitz)

High School Pools

Many local high schools allow public access at select hours.  Some of these are listed here, but they can change frequently and without notice.  Please call to confirm hours before visiting.

  • North Hills HS is generally open during the entire school year on M-W-F 7-8:30 (credit: Josh Weaver)

  • Oliver Citywide Academy (2323 Brighton, Northside) hosts a Saturday Swim School throughout the school year, coached by Mark Rauterkus.  Adults and high school swimmers are welcome from 9:30 to 11:30. Kids and mentors are welcome from 11:30 to 1:00 pm.  There is no fee, although donations are welcome.  Visit http://swim.cloh.org/saturdays/ for more information.

Gym/Fitness Center Pools

LA Fitness Pools

Most LA Fitness locations have pool facilities (North McKnight Rd, Bridgeville, Robinson Twp, Pleasant Hills, etc.).  Lap swimming hours are scheduled around pool activities, so check your locations' schedule before planning your swim.  Some locations are known to close their pool facilities frequently and/or without notice, so you might want to call ahead to make sure it is open before heading there to swim.

YMCA Pools

Most of the Pittsburgh YMCAs have pool facilities; check your local branch for more information.  YMCA membership required.  Many YMCAs host a Master's swim program (see below).

The athletic club has an indoor pool that is open year-round.  Membership fees apply.  Pool-only memberships are available!

Master's Swimming

​

U.S. Master's Swimming is dedicated to getting adults to swim.  Click here for Pittsburgh-area Master's swimming clubs and locations.  You must be a USMS member (annual membership fee) to participate in an individual program, and each program may have its own fee structure.

​

Team Pitt Master's Swimming is a PTC sponsor and practices five days a week at Trees Pool on the University of Pittsburgh campus.  Membership is $36/month for PTC members or $42/month for non-PTC members.  Visitors may participate for a single workout fee of $5 (must have USMS membership).  Contact Jennifer Michaels for more information at jen.matt.michaels@gmail.com.

Allegheny Mountain YMCA/YWCA Master's Swimming is a local program of YMCA Masters Swimming which holds practices and swim meets at area YMCAs/YWCAs.  Membership fees are based on YMCA/YWCA location and YMCA member/non-member status.  I.e., some locations may require YMCA/YWCA membership, some may offer both member/non-member prices.  Contact your local YMCA/YWCA to inquire about their master's swimming program.

NORTH HILLS AQUATICS MASTERS PROGRAM 

Swimming at North Hills HS on Wednesday & Friday evenings and late Saturday mornings.

FLYING FISH HEADS

The Pittsburgh Flying Fish Heads (FFH) is an independent United States Masters Swimming program affiliated with the Fox Chapel Killer Whales. Founded in 2014, we are a USMS Gold team and currently offer practices 7 days a week, all year long. We typically swim outdoors between Memorial Day and Labor Day and indoors during the school year. The Fish Heads program is run entirely by volunteers.

HAMPTON DOLPHINS MASTERS

Work out group swims an organized workout 3 x weekly. Practices written on 6 levels. USMS drop ins welcome. Deck coaching provided.
